    Health Services is designed to provide confidential, professional, quality, cost-effective, acute, and routine medical care for all enrolled Winthrop University students. The staff of Health Services is committed in obtaining optimum personal health for each student through services and programs provided.

    • Health Services is offering virtual and in-person healthcare for eligible students. Students will use the Medicat Patient Portal to schedule an appointment time, at which a Health Services team member will contact the student.  If you experience issues with the portal, please contact the front desk at 803/323-2206 during business hours.

    Counseling Services will provide quality mental health service to enhance the overall mental health of Winthrop University students along cognitive, emotional, personal, and interpersonal dimensions.

    • Telemental Health Sessions Only: During Summer Sessions, Counseling Services will hold all sessions remotely.  Students in individual sessions will engage through the TAO platform using secure ZOOM technology. 

    • Medication Management: The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is currently engaging in Telehealth or In-Person sessions.  If you are a current patient of the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, you may call the front desk to schedule (323-2206).

    • New Appointments: Students can schedule their first telemental health session (intake) by calling the front desk (323-2206) or online at the Medicat Patient Portal. Intake appointments are same-day only, so login first thing in the morning on the day you'd like your appt.

    • Ongoing Appointments: Students who are currently engaged in Counseling Services or who wish to resume services may call the front desk (323-2206) or email their counselor in order to schedule an appointment.

    • Self-Help: Students are encouraged to utilize the unlimited-access self-help resources through TAO and to review additional resource information listed on the Counseling Services webpage.

    • Crisis: If a student is in crisis, please call the Suicide Prevention Lifeline 1-800-273-TALK(8255), or the Crisis Text Line (text HELLO to 741741). 

    The Office of Victims Assistance is committed to providing quality services and advocacy to victims and survivors of sexual assault, stalking, and domestic and dating violence through a concentrated community response. We support and provide programming and education directed at eradicating sexual violence both on campus and in the community.

    Wellness Services provides a collaborative, evidence-based approach to individual and community wellness through health promotion, educational programming, and service to the Winthrop community. Wellness Services promotes the physical, emotional, social, intellectual, occupational, and spiritual well-being of Winthrop students by enabling them to make informed choices conducive to healthy lifestyles.

    The Office of Accessibility helps to create an accessible campus community where students with disabilities have equal opportunity to fully participate in their educational experience at Winthrop University.

    • Office of Accessibility (OA) staff are available for students via email. OA can then explore options such as Skype, telephone, or other online options to engage in discussion and conversation. OA staff can be reached at

    • OA staff will be able to register students via phone, Skype, or Zoom. Students will still need to submit documentation as specified on the OA website and OA staff will be in touch with them to arrange a virtual intake appointment. 

    Students who test positive must email, upload the test result into the Medicat Patient Portal and completing the C19 QI form. Once these steps have been taken, a nurse will attempt to contact the student by phone or via secure message.
